Custom-install to install a CIA on your SD

The developer ihaveamac offers the 3DS scene a new way to install CIA without having to go through the 3DS box. Its solution allows to install a CIA directly on an SD card eliminating the entire process of passage through the 3DS.

"Custom-install" is a tool based on a Python 3.6+ script that installs CIA files on an SD card only on a PC. This allows you to bypass the slow speed and wireless I / O of the 3DS.

For the moment, the solution is fresh, there are some improvements to be made, Custom-install doesn't have a GUI yet, so you have to master the command lines, and the program does not check if the installation is good or corrupted, so installed CIAs may have errors.

He takes as an example the installation of Pokemon Ultra Moon, about 3.45 GB (doesn't include the final step of installing a ticket and a seed).

Class 4 SD: 15 minutes, 15 seconds
Class 10 UHS-1 microSD: 2 minutes, 58 seconds

For comparison, the network installation via FBI on a New3DS with a class 10 UHS-1 microSD: 48 minutes, 14 seconds.

Custom-install runs on Windows PC, macOS and Linux, note that you will have to use custom-install-finalize to install the tickets and the seeds. It should only be run once after using the script. custom-install.py writes a file containing this information to the SD card (cifinish.bin).
